Viral Commercials

Lately I've seen so many great new commercials. I think advertisers and marketers have a real hold on their audience. Many of these things are turning into virals. Remember SNL's "Lazy Sunday" video? YouTube.com hosted it but NBC forced the removal of it for copyright reasons. That makes sense, but it was one of the most downloaded videos on the Internet, and many say that it was this video the rejuvinated the SNL brand. The best thing to happen to them in a decade.

bigboy.jpgAs for television commercials, one of my favorites is the CITI Simplicity Card commercial with the guy trying to reach customer service. It too seems to be hugely popular online. (Download here) Also, Comcast's new campaign with the husband and wife turtles (the Slowskys) who love DSL because it's slow. They even have a blog where you can read about their life and view the three commercials they're in. It's very cute.

It's viral stuff like this that causes buzz. Anturtles.jpgd now it's so easy to find and download these commercials online, viral marketing is just that. Viral. Instead of asking for copyright infringement, advertisers should post such material online for download and distribution. NBC has finally done that with Lazy Sunday.
